I think what one needs is to ensure the outgoing smtp server properly set.
In my case, I use my mail server and voice mail send over to me immediately.

Yes, I experienced the same looping problem last night after compiling 437 with uw-imap. After putting back all my previous configuration files through WinSCP and turn off the box for a while, the looping has gone and back to normal. However, I cannot get IMAP work with Gmail.
For information, the former ATCOM firmware which was launched a year ago can allow us to use Gmail.
