I use VSP outside China and cannot see any direct impact to me.

It is not the first crackdown. Last year UUcall(?) or whatever was cracked down and draw large attentions in media. One year later, many Chinese VSPs are still on operations.

打擊非法網絡電話或封Skype

【本報訊】互聯網電話因費用便宜大受歡迎，但中國工業和信息化部日前發出通知，要求加強打擊內地非法互聯網電話（VOIP），Skype等平價長途電話服務可能會被終止。目前，中國是唯一禁止互聯網電話的國家。

伺服器搬港續營運
根據內地法例，除了四大電訊營運商合法經營外，其餘互聯網電話公司幾乎都是違法。如內地有互聯網電話第一品牌之稱的UUcall，去年被打擊停用，三千萬用戶受影響。但今年將伺服器搬到香港後，公司得以繼續營運。由於市場龐大，非法供應商如雨後春筍。

據資料顯示，去年內地正常的互聯網電話用戶多達一千八百萬，Skype在中國的用亦戶已超過美國。專家稱，雖然當局聲稱新措施主要是針對互聯網打電話易被騙徒利用，成為電話騙案工具。但認為互聯網電話是大勢所趨，建議當局加強監管互聯網電話使用上的漏洞方為上策
