No more Gimzo5

Gizmo5 is writing to let you know that we will no longer be providing service starting on April 3, 2011. A week from today, March 11, 2011, you will no longer be able to add credit to your account.

Although the standalone Gizmo5 client will no longer be available, we have since launched the ability to call phones from within Gmail at even more affordable rates.

If you purchased calling credit and have a balance remaining in your account, you can request a refund by logging in to http://my.gizmo5.com. If you are in the United States, you can instead choose to transfer your credit to a Google Voice account, so it can be used for calling from Google Voice or Gmail. If you don’t have a Google Voice account, please create one so that we can transfer your credit.

Please request a call credit transfer or refund by April 3, 2011. If you don't request a call credit transfer or refund by this date, we will automatically refund your remaining call credit via the payment method you originally used to purchase the credit. Note that if you paid via Moneybookers or if the credit card on file has expired, we will not be able to automatically refund your unused credit, so please log in to initiate the refund process.

google是不是要开始令人失望了呢？

以前google收购了GrandCentral，然后推出了 google voice，兴起了gv的风潮
现在，收购Gizmo5，却要让它死去，与绝大部分人的期望背道而驰....

还有，有人说，GV的免费午餐，也会在2012年结束......

那麼一年後，OBi110 的 GV 賣點也隨之消失了。

但從另一角度看 (陰謀論)，GV 可能一年後收購OBiTALK，有OBiTALK 的用戶便可以繼續免費使用，GV一來也可快CISCO 一步，理想達到，攻佔VoIP市場；二來這一兩年內便由OBiTALK 替 GV 免費擴大客戶基礎群，失敗的話，GV 並沒有損失。  

再者，由GrandCentral 以至到 Gizmo5，消失於市場即少了一個競爭對手，GV = Cisco = Microsoft 同出一徹藉著併購壯大自己。

商業市場始終每天都變幻莫測呢!

这样的话，google比skype有点良心，skype是完全封闭的，买了skype电话机就只能打skype电话
而 obi110 除了集成GV之，还有一个 SIP 位置.....
google的服务器遍布每个角落，结合 Obihai 后，它的voip国际长途除了skype，恐怕没有其他对手

這一切也要看OBiTALK 之能耐了。 它是否能於一兩年間產生無比吸引力，能令GV 對它垂菁及情有獨鍾。

I don't think google would acquire Obitalk as google has its own platform the Android phone(well, who would listen the ad when you make a call? Android would let you look at the ad).

我觉得OBiTALK与Google Voice的关系仅仅是其中客户端之一，还没很大影响力或收购吸引力，因为自从有了Gmail直接拨打与接听Voice，理论上这个标准协议或流程是开放的，其他第三方弄明白后如果觉得有利可图的话就会很快支持进来，比如Obihai

不过不管怎样，Gizmo5的离去对VOIP世界来说是悲伤的、损失的，至少我在收到邮件后，已经启用了Voice+Ipkall+Localphone多一层转发的备用方案来随时替代之前非常稳定的Voice+Gizmo5直接方案

这个头痛我不能理解啊
Asterisk，你起或不起，Voice都是这样，难道你说的是1.8的那个GV新功能
否则用网络协议分层的思想看，Gizmo5的离去，只是Voice+Gizmo5这一层断了，用Voice+Ipkall+Localphone补上即可，对上层或下层已有的应用没有任何影响
原来Gizmo5注册到Asterisk里，现在改成Localphone或其他支持外域呼入的SIP帐号注册即可

換其他VSP固然可以, 但是iptel和pennytel我又不想用, 其他又沒有甚麼好選擇! 昨天找了半天, 想起Draytek的台灣代理UBLink最近也開始提供免費的VSP服務, 昨晚試了OBi110可以註冊到, 但是香港部SPA3102就註冊不到! 現在唯有希望盡快買到更多的OBi110回來, 可以解決到我一部分問題. 不過辦公室部SPA3102和休息室部Linksys WRP400是沒法更換 (除非OBi110像SPA3102那樣有個Ethernet Port), 還是要用其他VSP. 想來想去還是自己起個Asterisk Server最好, 但是我部fit-PC2i不知道是否對我部PoE switch來說是overload, 要等我下次回港才知道. ATCOM IP04/IP01P看來是個不錯的選擇, 但是我又想用埋Skype. 還好最近香港家裏裝了條PCCW商業網上行寬頻, 拿了個Fix IP, 可以用Direct IP Dialing作為備用方案.

以前的IP01P是没有的，因为上次bubblestar要求过，现在是否有就不知道。

雯雯，如果你起了Asterisk Server，它可以让你更加疯狂！

因你有Asterisk Server （要ATOM PC based 那一种），你想接什么也可以。

我们这里有很多人都有经验，所以技术上一点难度都没有，而且我在荃湾时间比较多，有什么问题，现场义务给你搞定，因为你也帮助了大家很多嘛！

謝謝您! 其實用IP01亦可, 因為可以PoE splitter去解決PoE供電的問題, 就是我想用埋Skype的問題. 自己起個Asterisk Server除了要解決我部fit-PC2i所遇到的問題外, 還要花點時間去起, 所以這是長遠的解決方案. 或者各位有沒有其他好的免費VSP介紹給我亦可!
