OBi2OBi Gateway -- Delay when conneted

本帖最後由 角色 於 2011-4-27 07:10 編輯

Last night my son called me using the Qnap-based Asterisk (HK) to call my SZ-based Asterisk, the voice quality was not good. Then I used my SZ-OBi110 to call HK-OBi110, the voice quality was excellent.

I am wondering the reason between the two dialling methods. The first way is the Asterisk-to-Asterisk connection using sip port 5060, the second one is the OBi-to-OBi method using SIP port 10000.

There may have different ways to explore in order to improve the voice quality.

1) Asterisk outgoing port is changed from 5060 to other port such as port 10001, or

2) Asterisk with the aid of OBi110 for connecting different Asterisk in different countries.

Does anyone have the experience described above for sharing?

both yiuscw and daibaan recall my memory of talking to other member over OBi110 device, the member complains that he picked up the phone and responsed with hello, hello twice before hearing my voice. I said that once I heard his voice and I started to speak to him without waiting.

As a result, it is confirmed that OBi device handing SIP has some delays of RTP packets for unfound and unknow reasons.

In general, voip over vpn will give you more secure and reliable communication between two points. If you found that the voice quality improves after ten seconds and I believe it is worth to tolerate it if the rest of voice quality is good.

Anyway how many Vigor routers that you have already bought or are planning to buy? What are the models of the Vigor routers? Are you going to install them in Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou, and/or Beijing?
