Compiling in progress

Very simple. Just download and compile.
Then stop asterisk before "make install"
make install will then put up the files in the correct location
service asterisk start will do.

No need to install gui again

If you have other modules (my examples are flite, espeak, perhaps chan_dongle), I would suggest to make clean; make; make install again

TOP

Remember don't do a make samples as it will overwrite your default config files.

See my answer below. I know you will ask.

This script work for me
  1. #get branch
  2. svn co http://svn.asterisk.org/svn/asterisk/branches/1.8 asterisk-1.8
  3. #get trunk
  4. #svn checkout http://svn.asterisk.org/svn/asterisk/trunk asterisk-1.8
  5. cd asterisk-1.8
  6. ./configure
  7. #this is ony for format MP3 - SVN required
  8. contrib/scripts/get_mp3_source.sh
  9. contrib/scripts/get_ilbc_source.sh
  10. make menuselect
  11. make
複製代碼
You can see I do not include
service asterisk stop
make install
service asterisk start

It is because I need to confirm compilation is ok without error.

For make menuselect, no need to select other sound packages as you have installed before. No need to re-download again

TOP

You can see my script. I do not keep my old script. You can have as many source directory as you like. But once you type make install, the binary and other library files will be put into /usr/lib/asterisk, /var/lib/asterisk, etc

The startup script in /etc/init.d is the same.

Only you need to worry about the default config files.

The source code installation script is dfferent from that from rpm package. In rpm package, the existing conf file will not be overwritten but there will be a file backup as rpmsave as extension.
