This is the problem of yum install. If you compile, you would not encounter this problem. Also you may not be able to use google voice and calendar function. Check if you have gtalk.so jungle.so and res_jabber.so

you need to do so. Follow the scripts provided by bubblestar who posted up recently. It works.

I have just made a new build for asterisk 1.8 and GUI

You download from the release source and so you got 1.8.2. Mine is from subversion that would get update almost daily.

Did you make an make install after make?

    Try again. Mine is now 5145. You can it includes setting for Gtalk

So far so good. As stated before, most of the time to use GUI is to check the online and offline status and CDR. The CDR prompts me to identify hacker from Palestainin.
I seldom use GUI to do other thing except as monitor.

    Just make install is ok. It will overwrite your files.

I also notice the delay in changing the on / off status in the GUI.

It changes to red upon dialing or on hook.  Also it will be appear when login.
