how to get google voice number

If you need to set up google voice account, either you are in US or use VPN to pretend your registration in US.

Steps
1. create your gmail account, you need to be of @gmail.com not the apps account in order to use with OBi
2. use IPKALL http://www.ipkall.com to register a US physical phone number (this number will forward to your VOIP account so that you can answer the call)
3. establish VPN to US so that your network IP is now having a US IP
4. login http://voice.google.com, using your gmail account user name and password
5. ask for a phone number and select on your choice
6. put in the IPKALL number so that the first run of google voice can be forward to the IPKALL for confirmation
7. when google asks for confirmation, your VOIP softclient will ring and reply with your google voice confirmation code on the screen.
8. once done, you will have a US number from google

Note: the number cannot be used for registration with another google voice number
IPKALL may return the US phone number to you within minutes but sometimes you may not receive it for hours. SO you should get ready before proceeding to step 3.

For VPN, you may try this http://anonymitynetwork.com/. This does not require to install a new software in your PC, but just to establish a VPN connection in your network setting with the server, username/passaword provided.

Free trial allows for a 3 hours access. It is more than enough to have everything done.

可惜未有時間深入研究，暫時仲用緊SPA3000 as PSTN gateway；不過開始準備定多一個GV account，起碼一個可以放OBi110，另一個繼續放asterisk

已解決。不過如果你有多個一個account，最好分開唔同時間打，因為process唔到咁多calls.

But what I do now is to create a different .call file and a cron job to put the call file into /var/spool/asterisk/outgoing/ directory to process. I just use GV to call (it is free).

As stated before, we have many devices and VOIP accounts. What we need to do is to make some integrations so that we won't forget the existing one while playing with the new one.

Therefore, some automated and scheduled tasks are required.

其实我在想，有没有需要用美国电话号码，因为我主要是中港英使用。

反而应该考虑在不同地方，怎样可以取得最平(免费最好)的PSTN number。

系外国，最大的问题是太大，离开一个城市就好多时当national calls。

例如，在英国伦敦，localcall 可以免费，但national calls要俾钱，全国通如0845, 0844，手提要收钱。

从家人安排上，除���有部lulu级的OBi110，即刻用到。去街用手提又想打返香港其他friends，就要用IP01帮手。

我见到英国最平VOIP DID 可以月费US$1；但只供incoming，outgoing 另计。

香港最平HK$3X, NWT 同CMphone 都用唔到系asterisk。虽然2b 就可以，不过要HK$8x

有没有好介绍？
