The following text is out of date now as there is only one version of wireless package used in the most updated RouterOS version.

之前在香港，因为地方小，所以不觉得CAPsMAN有什么用，但是如果你住的地方比较大，而不想用一个AP，然后把WiFi开到大大的，那么你可以考虑用多个APs，然后把功率调小一点，那么Clients可以Roaming不同的APs。

RouterOS有了这个CAPsMAN WiFi功能，管理能力非常强。

因为大家买的RB devices / X86 devices会出现不同的wireless-fp/wireless-cm2 package, 所以某些情况你的CAPs注册不成功，所以在使用CAPsMAN之前，最好先看看你的CAP devices and CAPsMAN device都用同一种package，建议统一使用wireless-cm2 package。

本来是非常简单是事！跟着做都不想，原来我CAPsMAN与CAP的wireless package （wireless-fp，wireless-cm2）不一致，所以没有连接成功，就是CAP连去CAPsMAN。估计wireless-fp是给CAPsMAN V1用，而wireless-cm2是给CAPsMAN V2用。

问题出自我的RB2011，可能是旧款，就算更新东西，它都保留旧的packages settings，所以我的RB2011的wireless用wireless-fp，而不是最新的wireless-cm2。但是据闻有些function要就是wireless-fp才能正常使用。

不过我现在都改为wireless-cm2，有问题再改回去。

还有很多问题要reboot才能确定是有问题，不然的话，如果不reboot，本来reboot就可以，就是因为没有reboot，所以才误判settings有问题。

之前看过一些报道，CAPsMAN不可以管理自己本机的WiFi，但是经过测试后是可以的（我用RouterOS 6.35，wireless-cm2), 在使用上，效果非常好！

When setting in repeater mode, the wireless-rep package allows your router to make a client and an AP at the same time, on one physical interface.

It isn't just a repeater it's full working parallel Client + AP mode. You can use the Repeater Setup tool, and then change they SSID's and bridge/unbridge these interfaces arbitrary. Or you can just add VirtualAP interface (with it's very own SSID, security profile, lan or address) upon physical Station mode wlan interface. And, just saw it, you can make it vice versa cause there is Virtual Client interface!

不知道member用使用用CAPsMAN去set AP的TX power and channel呢？如果不set，CAPsMAN会自动给你，有的AP有30dBm，我自动set 10dBM，搞到覆盖少很多。

Mikrotik产品中，普通的routers里有WiFi，所以CapsMan用途不大，但是好的routers如CCR就没有WiFi，那么怎样利用CCR里CapsMan是一个非常好的课题，还有家里有好几个APs有怎样处理呢？

因为自己有CCR-1009，而CCR是没有WiFi，如果要加WiFi给CCR control，那么我们选用CAPsMAN。Channel numbers and settings could be found in [1].

Step 1： Enable CAPsMAN in CCR by clicking the "Manager"
Step 2： Reset my hAP ac2 and select CAP without backup.
Step 3: Able to see entry in CAPsMAN in CCR.
Step 4: With CCR using winbox, the caps be seen in CCR.
Step 5:  Setting WiFi parameters in CCR
Step 6:  Add newly developed CAPs in
Step 7:  Set the channel number and encryption method.

The network connection diagram of the following settings is:

The following procedures illustrate the steps needed for establish the connection between a CAP device and CAPsMAN device.

CAP device
1. Reset Configure with checking out CAPS Mode box and “Do Not Backup” box. The last one is not mandatory.

CAPsMAN Manager device
1. On <Wirless> tab, disable local wlan1 and/or wlan2 (you may enable them if necessary)
2. On <CAPsMan>-><Manager> tab, check out the enable box and start the CAPsMAN service.
3. Go to the bridge mode, add cap1 and/or cap2 the network bridge such that it gives DHCP and network service to the CAP device
4. Double click the cap device under CAPsMAN->CAP Interface
4.1 Wireless->Mode: ap
4.2 Wireless->SSID: “Enter a name for SSID of the CAP”
4.3 Security->Authentication Type: WAP2 PSK
4.4 Security->Encryption: aes com
4.5 Security->Passphrase: “password for SSID”

Remarks,

The frequency(channel number) was automatically set by the CAP device when we reset the MikroTik WiFi device at CAPS mode. For simplicity, we stopped here. More information will be shown later by including examples of adjusting wireless parameters.

The current performance of using hAP ac2 as a CAP are shown as follows:

1. 2G WiFi performance: an average of 50Mbps.
2. 5G WiFi performance: stable at around 100Mbps.

我已经用了很久了，只不过最近把settings整理出来。突然想想起network diagram没有画出来。

你现在也用CAPsMAN吧？
