For the mainland China, I am thinking of

GOIP (or GSM box+SPA3000)<=> ET263_acc1(mainland) <=> ET263_acc2(HK) <=> Asterisk <=> PSTN/VOIP user

The main idea is simplicity of hardware, which requires almost no maintenance The drawback is obvious, it relies solely on ET263(you down I down).

Plz check the Betamax clone(be aware of no service from Betamax):
http://progx.ch/home-voip-prixbetamax-3-1-2.html
The server is located in Europe, which might have large delay from HK.

How is the voice quality if the most of the end points are using ET263? How about the voice quality after 15 minuties?

Actually I have no idea about the voice quality as the GOIP is placed outside mainland China. The deployment is GOIP <=> Asterisk <=> VSP <=> China/Other destinations. Since VOIP is not blocked here, I don't feel any quality drop during calls to China.

The GOIP bought from DBL can communicate with ET263 thru encrypted stream, which increases the chance to break 15-minutes-limit.

YHFung C-hing, have you tested the VPN option?

Would you please tell me more about the following path?

GOIP (outside China) <=> Asterisk (where) <=> VSP (which and where) <=> China/Other

I believe that if the voip packets sent by the GOIP device is not blocked, then either encrypted or plain voip packets will have the same performance.

As for my cases, all SIP clients using ET263 is not encrypted. With the ET263 as the bridge between Mainland China and outside China, the voice quality would not dropped after 15-min conversation.

If the voice over VPN, the voice quality is pretty good. For better performance codec G729 has to be used.

GOIP (outside China) <=> Asterisk (outside China) <=> VSP (Betamax, Germany?) <=> China/Other

Here the GOIP and Asterisk are within the same LAN(no encryption)。

What I mean is that, the GOIP might help us break the block with encryption in other provinces, which block all plain VOIP traffic including skype.

Thank Qnewbie for providing more information.

I would like to ask you another question, have you experienced any degraded voice quality after a certain period of time without the use of ET263 as the bridge, let say 15 minutes chat if you make calls to China using VoIP only (no ISTP)?

I use mostly Betamax(as ping value is under 100ms) to make calls to China. I don't experience the quality degraded problem as calls are one-way(outside => China).

You might test with two Betamax(like www.nonoh.net) accounts(free!). As said, the delay might be large from HK.
