The chan_datacard has been replaced by chan_gongle last week. I have the change to compile and install. Compilation and installation worked but I did not have time to test the voice and SMS functions.

Voice and sms are working for chan_datacard after upgrading to Asterisk 1.8.4 here.

Will re-compilation of chan_dongle or chan_datacard after Asterisk 1.8.4 work? As I told you before, chan_datacard caused problem in accessing CLI in Asterisk 1.8.4 for me but it did not affect other earlier versions.作者: ckleea 時間: 2011-5-22 14:35

I am now 100% sure is due to the problem of Peoples SIM card. Somehow it can't see SMS.
Both chan_dongle and chan_datacard drivers works very well. The WEB GUI SMS program also works.

As said, I have no problem to receive Chinese SMS and then send out via email. But I am unable to send Chinese SMS directly via asterisk cli, script or web GUI. Kannel GUI can do.
