係呀!! 現在都正在努力把OBi 收納於Asterisk 之中，要容入自己的Dial Plan 嘛。

Asterisk 是核心，用了之後，根本(可見的未來一段時間)沒有其它ATA可以替代，不會也無法放棄，功能實在強大，lttliang 兄應該多些上來交流使用心得啊。

由於我在VOIP 裏的認識始於asterisk，所以最先應用asterisk 有的functions。但不論你用 linux server 自己起的 asterisk 或IP01 的asterisk，最大分別是flexibility 和 logging。asterisk 可以比較清楚處理方法，但ATA 需要明不同的專用名。不過骨子裏大家運作原理其實差不多。

現在我的asterisk 可以加入2 個或更多dial in and out functions，如1.8 版更加有native google voice support, calendar support ....

另外在整合上，我加上 fax in and out 和使用 USB 3G 手指做voice dial in and out，仲可以收送 SMS，這些都是OBi or IP01 做唔到。

不過，這些是需要時間學習和不停試。

可能leitany師兄的傷感不是使用OBi 而傷感，而是因OBi110 暫時無法發揮他所預期的效果而傷感。記憶中，leitany兄說過，SPA3000 做到的某些基本註冊功能，OBi110 卻未能順利達致，估計是有感而發。

由於OBi110 一開始已經被認為是ATA 的殺手級產品，所以期望愈大、失落感亦放大了。

把它整合至Asterisk 吧! OBi110 做不到的，Asterisk 可以做得到；SPA3000 做不到的，Asterisk 也可以做得到，而且可以做得更好，大家不要洩氣呢。

簡單說，全部可以。

Calendar 是新加入功能，提醒用戶日程，如用電話提醒下個約會。

其實asterisk 可以很強大，但當你愈想使用多D功能時，就要小心安全保安問題。

開放給其他人使用更要小心。

不過我們要大家分享知識和技術，先會有進步。

I Installed Asterisk, however, there are some many configuration files and sections in the configuration files, it is quite intimidating for new user, do you have some quick pointers to quick start guides? maybe sample configure files for simple/minimal configurations, say for a SIP phone with multiple SIP ITSP?

Have you read the book of "The Future of Telephony: Asterisk"?

In most cases, you only need to touch three configuration files, sip.conf, iax.conf and extensions.conf. Other configuration files are seldom touched.

Did you install GUI for the asterisk?

Which version of asterisk you install?

1.8 or other?

Plain asterisk download from asterisk.org or freepbx or elastix?

Are you using asteriskNow to install?

If you are using AsteriskNOW and have GUI installed, it will be similar to what you at IP01
I suggest you to go step by step

1. sip.conf
2. extensions.conf

I have download the latest version of plain Asterisk 1.8 and AsteriskNow from asterisk.org.

I installed AsteriskNow on a VM - twice, after Installation, I've only seen the vanilla CentOS, no Asterisk or AsteriskGUI, no Asterisk config files or /etc/asterisk director. I did not see the choice of various asterisk install option during booting of AsteriskNOW iso image. I must be missing something.

I have installed latest version of Asterisk 1.8 on 2 different CentOS machines, started playing with it.

I have also in the process of installing a CentOS VM and the install Asterisk on top of it, this is probably going to be my playpen, so I can take snapshot and have no fear of messing it up.

look at the boot process and click on the one with GUI. I think for the latest AsteriskNOW, they have not fixed the GUI problem.

You may use asterisk 1.4 + GUI first. I personally do not recommend you to install freepbx. But if you choose, you should try PIAF which is more mature and contains 1.8
