I include acronis true image, acronis disk director, my ghost dos image, plus some other.
I used to have quite a number of boot images but have not used them for long time except acronis programs

It looks too much to me. Are you able to make Win7 iso bootable in USB stick?
ISO boot image is different from true emulation in your special DVD case.
Install Windows or Linux is just several times only. To me, the notebook has been installed 5 times at most. Once I got a good system, I will do a back up by Acronis True Image. Future changes are mainly restoration of the backup images.
For Linux, perhaps I have more experience than you.. Only install to test. I just need a rescue CD to do the first setup and then restore the working image from my tar backup.
